What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a state of relaxation and concentration at one with heightened awareness induced by suggestion.
How does Hypnosis work?
Everyone has the ability to enter into a trance. We slip into natural trance states when we become absorbed in watching television, reading a book, using computer, or driving. It is a totally natural phenomenon, most pleasant and relaxing, which has actually little to do with sleep. That's why a person can converse quite easily whilst in that state. Getting into trance is easy. It is bringing about change that is the important part.
Does Hypnotherapy work?
A survey of psychotherapy literature by Dr. A. Barrios revealed the following recovery rates:

-
Psychoanalysis: 38% recovery after 600 sessions (approx. 12 years!)
-
Behaviour Therapy: 72% recovery after 22 sessions (approx. 6 months!)
-
Hypnotherapy: 93% recovery after 6 sessions (1 ½ months)
American Health Magazine - Barrios, Alfred A. "Hypnotherapy: A Reappraisal," Psychotherapy: Theory, Research and Practice, 1970

This survey shows clearly what works. If you really want the change in your life that is lasting and effective, spending as little money and time possible, then hypnotherapy is for you.

Can anyone be hypnotised?

Yes, hypnotisability is often a learned trait. You can teach your body and mind to go into trance, and get better and better at it as you practice your self-hypnosis. Most people don't feel they were hypnotised after a session. What they do notice is the changes in relation to the problem they first came with.

What does it feel like to be hypnotised?

You continue to hear all that is going on around you and are fully aware of your situation. In a trance-like state your awareness increases, but in a very relaxed way.

Can I become stuck in hypnosis?

No, you can't. The state of trance is just as natural as when you go to sleep at night and wake up in the morning. You can leave the state of trance at any point, you just do not want to, because the state is very pleasant.

Is hypnosis safe?

Yes. In hypnosis there is no question of being controlled or manipulated or even induced into a deep trance state without consent. The state of trance is pleasant and particularly relaxing. It is inconceivable that any harm could befall you. Hypnosis is a proven therapeutic aid.

Can I be hypnotised against my will?

To be hypnotised you have to be a willing participant in the process. Hypnotherapist is a facilitator in the process, provided you allow to be guided into hypnosis.
